In a show of community solidarity, the University of Northern Philippines reinforced its collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross – Ilocos Sur Chapter by providing its facilities to host a First Aid Session in observance of World First Aid Day 2025. This partnership highlights UNP’s commitment to promoting health awareness and equipping the public with essential lifesaving skills.
In a formal letter dated September 11, 2025, Ms. Veronica Yactay, Administrator of the Philippine Red Cross – Ilocos Sur Chapter, requested the support of UNP President Dr. Erwin Cadorna for an upcoming collaborative activity with the UNP–NSTP. The event, scheduled for September 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, will be held at the UNP Gymnasium, highlighting the partnership between the University and the Red Cross in promoting community health and preparedness.
With the approval of Dr. Cadorna, the University generously opens its Gymnasium for use free of charge, providing access to its LED screen, sound system, and technical support. This collaboration emphasizes UNP’s commitment to promoting life-saving skills, as participants learned essential first aid techniques designed to respond effectively in emergencies and everyday situations. The initiative strengthens the shared mission of UNP and the Philippine Red Cross to foster safer, more resilient communities.
