The Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension facilitated the framing of agreement between the University of Northern Philippines and three national high schools in the second district of Ilocos Sur on March 26, 2025.
The Lidlidda National High School, Candon City Information Technology National High School, and Dr. Ricardo Gacula National High School entered into a memorandum of agreement with UNP.
Dr. Fatima Rocamora, Vice President for Research and Extension, expedited the subscribing of the MOA between UNP and the three national high schools. The Lidlidda National High School had Ms. Emilia Jaramilla, Teacher In-charge, and Mr. Regino Matias, Faculty Club President; Dr. Ricardo Gacula National High School had Dr. Analyn Galanto, School Principal; and Candon City Information Technology National High School had Mr. Alejandro Haboc Jr. for the signing of the MOA.
Dr. Erwin Cadorna, UNP President, signed the memorandum of agreement.
The first lectures after the agreement signing were delivered in Dr. Ricardo Gacula National High School where Prof. Jerome Mecca, Dr. Grace Garcia, and Dr. Jill Ann Paranada delivered a lecture on Understanding Research and Science Inventory Project to junior high school students, and Mr. Johnny Allagadan Jr. on the Bawal Bastos Law to the senior high school students.
The University agrees to provide medical and dental services for the students and teachers of the recipient schools; conduct of information drive and advocacy programs, skills training , technology transfer and livelihood projects, lectures in coaching and officiating sport games.
The MOA also have in its provisions training on disaster risk reduction and management, basic life support, basic first aid and rescue operations, health, technological, educational, economic and business management training programs and seminars, capability building activities for teachers and employees, and students.
The recipients schools agree to assist in the conduct of needs assessment survey, provide training venue, and to be responsible for the continuity of the established projects and programs.
Faculty from College of Arts and Science for Dr. Ricardo Gacula National Hight School, College of Business Administration and Accountancy for Lidlidda National High School; and College of Communication and information Technology for Candon City Information Technology National High School were present during the MOA signing. Prof. May Evelia Raudap, Extension Coordinator, was also present during the signing.
