It’s a triple win for UNP Badminton Team!
Like a predator determined to stay on top of the food chain, the UNP Sharks Badminton Team left no crumbs and stamped their dominance at the SCUAA badminton courts sweeping the Men’s Division.
This sweet victory secured national slots for Ivin Angel Baquiran, Brad Warren Sarmiento, Brian Pablico, and John Paul Abella. Delivering masterful performances, both Sarmiento and Baquiran proved their prowess in both singles play.
In Men’s Singles B, Sarmiento put on a commanding display, defeating MMSU 2-0 with strategic shot placements and well-timed smashes to claim the championship. Meanwhile, Baquiran, competing in Men’s Singles A, showcased flawless control and endurance, overpowering PSU 2-0 to bring home another gold for UNP.
The pressure intensified in the Men’s Doubles finals, where the duo of Brian Pablico and John Paul Abella faced DMMMSU in a thrilling championship match. Holding a twice-to-beat advantage, the UNP pair showed their dominance, securing a decisive 4-1 victory to complete the golden sweep.
Guided by the expertise and dedication of Coaches Florence Dela Cruz, Paul Richard Martin, Rojay De Jesus, Frances Duldulao, Ellaine Victoria Ferrer and Shiela Obispo, the UNP badminton team has reached new heights, proving that hard work and relentless training pay off.
With all men’s badminton champions advancing, the UNP Sharks are now set to represent Region 1 in the Nationals, carrying the momentum of their SCUAA success. As they prepare for the next stage, the Sharks are ready to take their game to a higher level, aiming for national glory.
