UNP Strengthens Commitment to Quality Assurance at the AACCUP Presidents’ Summit 2025

The University of Northern Philippines demonstrated its steadfast commitment to excellence in higher education as President, Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna joined the AACCUP Presidents’ Summit 2025 held on August 14–15, 2025 at the Century Park Hotel, Manila.

The summit, organized by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc., brought together leaders and quality assurance champions from state universities and colleges (SUCs) across the nation. With the theme centered on the new framework for quality assurance and accreditation, the two-day event emphasized institutional alignment with national and international benchmarks to ensure competitiveness and excellence in Philippine higher education.

Joining Dr. Cadorna were the university’s key quality assurance officials, Dr. Rolando Navarro, VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Eva Marie Avila, Quality Assurance Director, and Ms. Regina Tobia, Quality Assutance Officer III, whose attendance was crucial, as they represent the core offices responsible for translating the summit’s new directions into actionable policies and programs within UNP.

As a distinguished member of the AACCUP Board of Trustees, Dr. Cadorna’s participation in the summit carried profound impact. Beyond representing UNP as its president, he stood as a national leader helping shape the very direction of quality assurance and accreditation for all state universities and colleges. His presence elevated the voice of UNP to the national stage, affirming that the university is not only a participant in the pursuit of academic excellence, but a driving force in defining the standards that guide Philippine higher education.

By sending its full team of QA leaders, UNP reinforced its institutional commitment to collaboration, accountability, and transparency, values that are essential in driving reforms and sustaining accreditation efforts. The participation of Dr. Navarro, Dr. Avila, and Ms. Tobia ensures that the insights, strategies, and frameworks shared in the summit are directly cascaded and implemented within the university system, making the attendance of these officials not just symbolic, but vital.

The UNP delegation’s active role in the summit reflects the university’s mission to foster a culture of quality, innovation, and responsiveness, further cementing its position as a leading institution in higher education.
