UNP takes part in Global Sustainability Congress

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP), headed by University President Dr. Erwin Cadorna, joined universities and leaders from different parts of the world in the Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026, held on June 22–25, 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

With the theme “Collective action for a sustainable future,” the congress brought together educators, policymakers, organizations, and sustainability advocates who share one goal: to work together in finding real and lasting solutions for a better future.

For UNP, the participation of Dr. Cadorna in this international gathering was a meaningful opportunity to bring the university into wider conversations on sustainability, education, innovation, and community development. It also showed UNP’s growing commitment to building partnerships beyond the country while continuing to serve its communities in Northern Luzon.

As part of the activities, BINUS University welcomed participating Philippine universities at its Anggrek Campus in Jakarta. The universities present included Ateneo de Davao University, University of Southeastern Philippines, Iloilo Science and Technology University, Mindanao State University, Bicol University, Tarlac Agricultural University, Leyte Normal University, Pangasinan State University, Western Philippines University, Bukidnon State University, and the University of Northern Philippines.

The gathering became a venue for university leaders to meet, share experiences, and explore possible collaborations, especially on programs related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Throughout the congress, participants discussed important global concerns such as sustainable cities and communities, digital innovation, education, equality, energy, environment, health, and well-being. These topics reminded universities of their important role not only in teaching and research, but also in helping communities respond to today’s social and environmental challenges.

Under the leadership of Dr. Erwin Cadorna, UNP continues to take part in international platforms that open doors for learning, cooperation, and meaningful action. Its participation in the Global Sustainability Congress 2026 reflects the university’s desire to grow as a globally engaged institution while staying true to its mission of serving people and communities.

Through this milestone, the University of Northern Philippines proudly joins the global call for collective action toward a more sustainable, inclusive, and hopeful future.
