Architecture students from the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) placed 1st Runner-Up in the Architecture Category of the Technology, Engineering, and Architecture Student Conference (TEA StudCon) 2025, held on December 4–5 at Patio by Balai Norte in San Juan, La Union.
The UNP team composed of BS Architecture 4A students Rolito R. Apuya, Stephen R. Cacas, and Brylle Mari R. Layne, guided by their coaches Ar. Charles Angelo T. Andrada and Ar. Derick R. Dasugo, presented the project titled “Agricultural Value Exchange Hub (AVEH): A Food Bank Model and Agricultural Product Distribution System,” which reinterprets the traditional bagsákan by treating food as stored value.
The AVEH model introduces climate-responsive facilities for depositing, stabilizing, and lightly processing agricultural produce, addressing losses linked to typhoons, oversupply, and market shifts while supporting fairer returns for farmers. The project was presented during the Technology, Engineering, and Architecture Innovation Forum, the contest proper on the conference’s second day. TEA StudCon 2025 also featured sessions on career advancement and professional development for Technology, Engineering, and Architecture students during its opening day.
