Representatives from the University of Northern Philippines’ College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) made a strong mark on the national stage, emerging as standout contenders at the 18th Philippine Food Expo – Culinary Challenge held from April 17 to 19, 2026 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.
The Food Expo – Culinary Challenge gathered top culinary talents in the country bringing together 43 schools from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in a vibrant showcase of skill, creativity, and innovation.
The CHTM representatives demonstrated excellence in multiple categories. The team secured a 1st Place finish in the Creative Filipino Dessert Platter – Faculty and Student Tandem led by Mr. Dave Angelo Asuncion and student Danica Rabara highlighting their mastery of contemporary Filipino flavors and presentation.
In the Healthy Pasta – Faculty and Student Tandem category, Dr. Kevin Cesar Martinez and student Jack Lord Azurin earned 3rd Place, impressing judges with their balance of nutrition and culinary technique. Other participants included Mr. Jemson Barisoro with students Divino Karl Pacada and Decirie Valdez for the Philippine Regional Table Setting, as well as Jessabel Apongol and Nash Purugganan for the PFE Knowledge Challenge.
