Cries and laughter echoed in the UNP Auditorium last October 17, 2025, where participants from the Short and Sweet Play (Musical), Short and Sweet Play (Dialogue), and Radio Drama clashes in harmony during the 2nd day of the Culture and Arts Festival under the Theater Arts Competition coordinated through Mr. Kennedy R. Jetajobe and under the supervision of Dr. Chasen Almazan.
Performances were based on the overall theme “Panagraem,” where the judges dissected each piece according to its technical and design elements, script and storytelling, and vocal performance. The judges were Ms. Angelica Arquines, Mr. Johnny Allagadan Jr, and Mr. Maximo Borje Jr., who are intellectual about Performance Media and Theater Arts.
Outstanding participants in the Radio Drama category were recognized across various minor and major awards. Garnering top honors were Unit IV as Best Voice Actor, Unit VI as Best Voice Actress, and Unit VIII, which earned both Best in Technical Production and Best in Scriptwriting. For the overall results, Unit IX placed as 2nd Runner-Up, Unit VI as 1st Runner-Up, and Unit VIII emerged as the Overall Champion.
On the other hand, in the Short and Sweet Play Dialogue category, Unit VI dominated most of the awards, winning Best Male Performer, Best Female Performer, Best in Plot Development, and Best in Technical Execution, while Unit VIII took Best in Scriptwriting. For the overall rankings, Unit VIII was named 2nd Runner-Up, Unit VII as 1st Runner-Up, and Unit VI as the Overall Champion.
Meanwhile, in the Musical category, Unit VIII won Best Male Performer, Best Music Arrangement, Best in Technical Execution, and Best in Scriptwriting, while Unit IV bagged Best Female Performer and Best in Production Design. For the overall results, Unit VI placed 2nd Runner-Up, Unit IV as 1st Runner-Up, and Unit VIII claimed the title of Overall Champion.
Overall, the Visual Arts Competition highlighted several themes under “Panagraem” in the spectrum of Family Dynamics, Socio and Political Issues, and Cultural Appreciation. It also displays the intellect of the participants in storytelling and technical application.
