The University of Northern Philippines Retirees Association (UNPRA) joined in the festivity of UNP’s 60th Diamond Jubilee with a special UNPRA Day held at the Guestel on October 15, 2025. This warm gathering honored the retirees who have devoted years to building the university’s legacy.
University President Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna and UNPRA officials led the recognition ceremony, presenting Certificates of Recognition and Kamagong plant souvenirs to the outstanding retirees. These tokens were symbols of deep gratitude for their decades of steadfast service and commitment to UNP. The awardees honored at the event were Dr. Ferdinand J. Lamarca, Dr. Marciana de Vera, Dr. Manuel Bajet Jr., Dr. Larguita Reototar, Dr. Cristopher Bueno, Dr. Mary Rose Rabang, Mr. Rolando Ragasa, Dr. Cristina Bundoc, Mr. Ronilo Palma, Mr. Wilberto Tabutol, Mrs. Myrna Anicoche, and Mrs. Norma Naval.
Speaking for his fellow retirees, Dr. Ferdinand Jay Lamarca, retired Professor VI, shared a heartfelt message of gratitude. He thanked the university for recognizing their years of service and dedication. He also reflected on the achievements and contributions of each retiree, acknowledging how their hard work and commitment helped shape the university’s legacy.
In addition to the retirees, the event also recognized the UNP executive officials, President Erwin Cadorna, VP Rolando Navarro, VP Albert Tejero, and VP Fatima Rocamora, who were presented with certificates and souvenir gifts in acknowledgment of their leadership and support to both the retirees and the university community.
The event was full of fun and excitement. The parlor games were enjoyable and simple, making it easy for the retirees to participate. The dances brought energy and joy to the event. The raffle prizes were generously sponsored by Beautéderm by Ma’am Pacita Anicoche and UNP RA, adding extra delight to the festivities.
Towards the end, Dr. Lauro B. Tacbas, UNP RA President, offered a warm message to the retirees. He encouraged them to enjoy their retirement and to live an HPS life – Happy, Peaceful, and Simple. His message underscored that retirement is not a closing, but a new chapter to be lived fully. In her closing remarks, Dr. Ocarna B. Figuerres, UNP RA Secretary, expressed deep gratitude to everyone involved, retirees, organizers, university officials, and guests, for coming together to make the event meaningful and memorable.
The UNP Retirees Day was a heartfelt celebration of service, homecoming, and legacy. As UNP commemorates 60 years of excellence, leadership, and community, the retirees stand as living testaments to the spirit that built this institution, and they continue to inspire the paths that lie ahead.
