UP, UNP Forge Academic Partnership

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) and University of the Philippines (UP) formalized a new era of academic collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in education, research, and scientific pursuits.

The MOU, signed by Dr. Michael Tee, Chancellor of UP Manila, and Dr. Erwin Cadorna, President of UNP, sets the stage for joint initiatives that will benefit students, faculty, and research communities in both institutions. The agreement was witnessed by senior officials of the two universities, including Dr. Bernadette Hezel Manapat-Reyes, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (UP), Dr. Vivien Fe Fadrilan-Camacho, Director of International and Local Linkages (UP), Dr. Pablo Quedado, Dean of the College of Medicine (UNP), and Dr. Dominetta Gonzalo, Assistant Dean of the College of Medicine (UNP).

The MOU outlines several forms of cooperation, including: Joint research projects; Consultancy services; Exchange of information and participation in seminars, lectures, and academic meetings; and Student and faculty exchanges, including part-time teaching opportunities

Both universities have committed to identify and implement specific academic projects, with further details to be agreed upon in subsequent Memoranda of Agreement (MOA). The agreement also covers faculty exchange or secondment, with clear procedures to ensure alignment with university policies and written approval from both parties.

This partnership marks a significant step toward promoting academic excellence and innovation in the Philippines. By combining resources and expertise, UP and UNP aim to create new opportunities for research, knowledge exchange, and professional development, ultimately benefiting the broader academic and scientific community.
