BSMLS holds 2nd lab coat, pinning ceremony

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) held its Second Laboratory Coat and Pinning Ceremony for the Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BSMLS) program. This event brought together students, faculty, and distinguished guests to recognize the future generation of medical technologists, symbolizing their dedication to the healthcare profession.

Dr. Joussie B. Bermio, CHS dean, highlighted the significance of this milestone. She emphasized the importance of integrity, dedication, and the responsibilities that come with the white coat—a symbol of trust and professionalism in the medical field.

The vesting ceremony, led by a distinguished panel including Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, Dr. Rolando B. Navarro, Dr. Fatima F. Rocamora, Mr. Albert R. Tejero, Dr. Luzviminda P. Relon, and Dr. Bermio, was a profound moment for each intern.

This ritual signified their transition from students to budding professionals, ready to embark on their careers in medical technology.

Assoc. Prof. Alfredo V. Corpuz introduced the guest speaker, retired Assoc. Prof. Amante P. Cabatu Jr., whose insights into the medical field illuminated the path ahead for the interns. His inspirational message encouraged the students to embrace their roles with compassion and dedication, reminding them that they are part of a legacy that has the power to impact lives.

The interns then participated in the solemn Interns Oath, recited by Ms. Alecs Fransil S. Ponsoy, pledging their commitment to ethical practice and patient care.

As the ceremony unfolded, Asst. Prof. Sherwin V. Alvar, BSMLS internship coordinator, led the Medical Technologists Prayer, invoking blessings for the interns as they step into their future roles.

Mr. Ace Danielle C. Avero, program head of BSMLS, concluded the ceremony with words of gratitude, emphasizing the importance of support from family, faculty, and friends in shaping their careers.
