UNP partners with Pantay Tamurong National High School for skills training and capacity building

 

The University of Northern Philippines has established a significant partnership with Pantay Tamurong National High School in Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, as part of its commitment to community development and educational enhancement on September 23, 2024.

The MOA signed between UNP and Pantay Tamurong National High School is a strategic effort aimed to enhance educational quality and community capacity, demonstrating the vital role that educational institutions play in fostering local development.

UNP was the represented by Dr. Fatima Rocamora, (Vice President for Research and Extension), alongside with Mrs. May Evelia Ruadap, (Coordinator, Livelihood and Training). Mr. Stephen Tabios, CAS Extension Coordinator), and Mrs. Bernadeth Canoy, (CAS Faculty), were also present.

UNP, through its University Extension Office, outlined a comprehensive plan to address the its needs in upgrading the administrative capability of barangay and school officials for a more responsive local governance and to harness the promotion of socio-economic development, technological support and the delivery of quality instruction and attain quality education.

The university strategizes a complex approach to community engagement, focusing on skills training, technology transfer, information drives, advocacy programs, consultancy services, and capability programs.

The partnership between UNP and Pantay Tamurong National High School, represents a significant step towards community development and empowerment. By leveraging the university’s expertise and resources, the partner school can provide its residents with the necessary support to improve their lives.
