BA PolSci conducts Voter Education Seminar

On February 26, 2025, the BA Political Science Program of the University of Northern Philippines conducted a voter education seminar titled, “Democracy in Action: Building a Future through Informed Voting” at Pantay Tamurong National High School, Caoayan, Ilocos Sur.

The seminar was attended by students of Pantay Tamurong National High School. This seminar is part of the immersion activity of third-year BA Political Science students enrolled in their Development Communication subject. The event aimed to equip young individuals with essential knowledge on voting rights, election processes, and the significance of informed voting.

Three esteemed speakers led the discussions. Ms. Angelie Mae Garcia, program head of the BA PolSci Program, spoke about The Electoral Process in the Philippines, explaining how elections function and their role in a democratic society. Dr. Ismael Rivera followed with a session on Voter’s Rights and Election Laws, emphasizing the legal aspects of fair and transparent elections. Lastly, Ms. Crizzle Paz discussed The Importance of Voting and Informed Choice, encouraging students to be responsible and critical voters in future elections.

The seminar was highly interactive, with students eagerly participating in discussions and raising questions on election-related topics. By engaging with high school students, the initiative aimed to instill a sense of civic responsibility at an early stage, preparing them to become informed voters in the future.

This activity highlighted the commitment of the BA PolSci Program to voter education and community engagement, reinforcing the role of education in strengthening democracy in the country.
