Faculty members of the Bachelor of Science in Emergency Health Services (BSEHS) program took an active role in advancing community healthcare as they participated in and supported a Lecture on Health and Safety Practices during a comprehensive medical, dental, surgical, and optical mission held on April 19, 2026, at the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption in Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur.
The activity gathered the residents, healthcare professionals, and partner organizations to promote health awareness and provide free essential services, particularly to marginalized and vulnerable groups with limited access to healthcare.
During the activity, the BSEHS faculty assisted in the distribution of health information flyers that promoted proper hygiene, disease prevention, first aid awareness, and personal safety. The materials served as accessible references that community members could take home and use as guides in maintaining health and safety practices.
Simultaneously, a medical, dental, surgical, and optical mission offered free consultations, treatments, and screenings to residents. The services provided immediate healthcare assistance and addressed basic medical needs within the community.
The activity was conducted through the collaboration of Caritas Nueva Segovia, Rotary Club of Vigan, and Naval Military Lodge No. 3678, whose partnership supported the delivery of health services and educational materials.
Through the active participation of BSEHS faculty and partner organizations, the activity promoted health awareness, delivered essential services, and strengthened community engagement.
