UNP holds Phase II Training on Instructional Materials Development, launches faculty publications

Strengthening its commitment to academic excellence and innovative teaching, the University of Northern Philippines, through the Instruction and Faculty Development Office (IFDO) in partnership with the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Human Resource Management Office, successfully held Phase II of the Intensive Training on Instructional Materials Development on April 28–29, 2026 at the UNP Hostel.

The two-day training-workshop gathered select faculty members and instructional materials (IM) writers from various academic units.

Once again serving as resource speaker, Prof. Bryan Eli Sadorra, Chief of the University Instructional Materials Development Office of Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, facilitated a dynamic discussion on the Principles of Instructional Design. He further guided participants through a structured presentation and critique session, offering constructive insights that helped refine and elevate their initial instructional materials.

A key highlight of the activity was the launching of books authored by the University’s first batch of IM writers, in partnership with Books ATBP Publishing Company. Featured authors included Dr. Ritchel Royce Chan, Dr. Novelyn Barcena, Dr. Kevin Martines, Dr. Rogelio Quario, Dr. Edmar Paguirigan, and Dr. Marjorie Paguirigan. This milestone underscores the institution’s growing culture of scholarship and publication.

In his opening message, Dr. Rolando Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, inspired participants to pursue authorship and contribute to the development of high-quality instructional resources.

Meanwhile, in her closing remarks, Dr. Luzviminda Relon, IFDO Director, emphasized that future phases of the program will focus on further refinement and achieving publication-ready outputs, ensuring that instructional materials meet the highest academic standards.

This initiative marks another step forward in empowering educators and strengthening the University’s instructional capabilities.
