Bakuna Eskwela kicks off for young learners

Today, November 27, 2024, the Medical Services Office and the City Health Office collaborated on the “Bakuna Eskwela” initiative, reinforcing the health goals set by the Department of Health (DOH). This activity focused on vaccine-preventable diseases among the youth, specifically targeting measles, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, and human papillomavirus (HPV).

The “Bakuna Eskwela” campaign is a significant revival of school-based immunization efforts that had been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic. It seeks to immunize public school students in Grades 1 and 7 with measles-rubella (MR) and tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccines. Additionally, female Grade 4 students will receive the HPV vaccine to protect against cervical cancer. This proactive measure aims to enhance the overall health of students and promote public health awareness within the community.

This program is designed to prevent diseases and maintain the health of our young students, promoting overall well-being and the importance of vaccinations in safeguarding public health.
