CTE Alumni Association holds re-organizational meeting, re-elects new officers

The UNP College of Teacher Education Alumni Association held its re-organizational meeting on March 15, 2025 at Tadena Hall. The event, attended by 156 participants from the college’s undergraduate and graduate programs, aimed to revitalize the association’s leadership and strengthen its commitment to supporting educators. 

In her welcome remarks, Dr. Ma. Teresa Susan Manzano, Dean of the College, underscored the significance of the gathering. “This meeting marks not only a reorganization but a renewal of our mission to support and enhance the teaching profession. As we elect new officers, let us focus on selecting leaders who embody our values of integrity, innovation, and a passion for lifelong learning,” she stated. 

Dr. Erwin Cadorna, UNP President, addressed the assembly, emphasizing the crucial role of alumni in expanding the university’s reach. “Through one’s expertise, linkages, or influence, we can connect our university to regional, national, or international networks while also making our alumni association more active in achieving its goals,” he said. 

Mr. Stephen Tabios led the ceremonies, while Dr. Corazon Pardo, outgoing secretary, presented the minutes of the previous meeting and the association’s Constitution and By-Laws. Dr. Amor T. Tabangcura, outgoing assistant secretary, introduced the outgoing officers. 

The event saw the election of new officers. Dr. Santiago Reolalas was elected as President, with Dr. Efren Galapon as Vice President. Other officers include Dr. Jamaica Garcia (Secretary), Dr. Corazon Pardo (Assistant Secretary), Dr. Juvie Lynne Almachar (Treasurer), Mr. Jeric Gonzales (Assistant Treasurer), Dr. Amor Tabangcura (Public Relations Officer), Mark Angelo Reotutar (Auditor), and Business Managers Mr. Stephen Tabios and Dr. Eva Marie Avila. 

Program representatives were also elected to ensure representation across various academic tracks. For the undergraduate programs, Dr. Anastacia Joven was chosen for BSED, Mr. Loigh Geius Alamani for BPED, Ms. Celina Ramboanga for BEED, and Mr. Edgar de la Cruz for BTVTED/BTLED. Meanwhile, representatives for the graduate programs include Jomar Regua for MAED, Dr. Dave Fontejon for MAT-PRA/MATLE-IA, Dr. Jeanina Batin for MATLE-HE, Dr. Eric Reotutar for MAT-PE, Mr. Theodore Rivero for MAT-English, Dr. Nancy Ubilas for MAT-Filipino, Dr. Joey-Nell Marzan for MST-Physics, Denese Merezen for MST-Chemistry, and Dr. Luzviminda Relon for the Doctor of Education program.

Following the election, the officers took their oath of office to formally assume their responsibilities. The meeting reaffirmed the association’s goal to advance professional growth among alumni and strengthening the university’s presence in the educational community.
