CTE recognizes great Ilokanas through an exhibit

The UNP College of Teacher Education participated in the Women’s Month Celebration through an exhibit on great Ilokanas. The program is titled “GEWE in the Ilokano Community: Panangbigbig Kadagiti Balligi Dagiti Babbai ti Kailokuan,” held on March 26, 2024.

Proclamation No. 227 series of 1998 provides for the observance of the month of March as Women’s Role in History month. The month is dedicated to the promotion of Gender Equality and Women Empowerment (GEWE).

The College, being a Teacher Education Institution (TEI), believes that it can greatly propel the community to promote awareness on the important role that women play in the society – that they are not lesser, but are strong and equal partners of national development.

The exhibit aims at promoting local culture by instilling awareness among the members of the UNP community of these women and their contributions in different fields such as oral traditions, arts, politics, education, and literature.

In addition, a women’s corner was also established where women can have their “me time” and enjoy their coffee.

The activity started at 2:00 PM at the corridors of the 2nd floor Academic Building. It was participated by all faculty members of the college. In attendance was Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna and Dr. Rolando B. Navarro who gave their inspirational message and congratulated the College for organizing this activity where the roles of women in different fields were highlighted. After the opening of the photo exhibit, the faculty and university officials had a simple salo-salo of local delicacies.
