The University of Northern Philippines held the 2nd Gawad Saliksik Awards on October 16, 2025, at the UNP Gymnasium as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations. The event was organized by the University Research and Development Office (URDO), headed by Dr. Edelyn A. Cadorna, to recognize individuals who have demonstrated hard work and dedication in their research.
With the theme โHonoring Research Excellence, Celebrating Achievements that Inspire,โ the ceremony honored 191 awardees for outstanding work in research publication, industrial design, utility model, citation, and copyright registration. College deans and research unit coordinators were also recognized for their leadership and ongoing support of research initiatives in their colleges and departments.
Plaques and certificates of recognition were presented to the awardees in appreciation of their significant contributions to advancing research at UNP. The remarkable number of honorees affirms the universityโs continuing progress in the field, made possible through the consistent guidance and comprehensive support of the URDO from start to finish.
In his message, UNP President Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna compared the universityโs growth to that of a diamond formed under pressure.

He also highlighted UNPโs achievement in the Worldโs Universities with Real Impact (WURI) 2025 Rankings, where it placed first in Region I, third in the Philippines, and third worldwide for Industrial Application.
