Hear; Here Mental Health Caravan transpires in Narvacan

In celebration of Women’s Month, the BS Psychology program, in partnership with the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) and the Provincial Health Office, and in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Narvacan, successfully conducted the Hear; Here Mental Health Caravan Leg 9 at LGU Narvacan on March 25, 2025. This initiative aimed to promote mental health awareness and provide psychosocial support to students from Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College – Narvacan Campus.

The caravan featured BS Psychology faculty members, including Mr. Mico Molina, Dr. Marifel Acena, and Mrs. Alexandria Blake Real-Pisalbo, as well as guidance counselor Ms. Glenny Barrientos, who served as mental health and psychosocial support providers through free counseling and consultation. The activity sought to equip student-participants with knowledge and coping strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges effectively.

One of the highlights of the event was a talk show, where Mr. Molina and Dr. Acena, shared their insights on building emotional resilience and coping with stress and anxiety. The discussion also explored into the importance of empowering women through mental health, emphasizing self-care, self-compassion, support system, and the role of mental well-being in personal and professional success.

The interactive session allowed students to engage in meaningful dialogue, ask questions, and gain practical tips on mental health management, by promoting safe space for open discussions, the caravan provided valuable psychosocial support to young individuals facing the challenges of student life.

The success of Hear; Here Mental Health Caravan highlights the commitment of the BS Psychology program and its partner agencies to advocating for mental well-being and gender empowerment. As the initiative continues to reach more communities, it serves as a beacon of hope and support, ensuring that mental health remains a priority in fostering a resilient and empowered youth.
