International Climate Change Conference Highlights Global Collaboration for Sustainable Futures

UNP, through the Environmental Management Office (EMO), in partnership with Sebelas Maret University of Indonesia, and Central Luzon State University in Nueva Ecija, hosted the International Climate Change Conference on April 10, 2025, bringing together experts, educators, and students to address the pressing global issue of climate change. The event, held at the UNP Auditorium, emphasized sustainable future through the integration of climate change solutions with heritage cultural preservation.

Dr. Rolando Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, in his welcome message underscored the urgency of addressing climate change as a borderless crisis requiring unified global action.

Dr. Erwin Cadorna, UNP President, through his Executive Assistant, Engr. Saturnino Tablada, delivered an inspiring message reinforcing the institution’s dedication to climate action and further stressed that the University as a globally-ranked institution, aims to amplify awareness, promote cross-institutional collaboration, and advance nature-based solutions pivotal for adaptation and mitigation.

The program featured notable speakers from partner universities. Dr. Shirly Cortez-Serrano from Central Luzon State University delivered a lecture on climate adaptation strategies, while Dr. Indah Widiastuti of Sebelas Maret University in Indonesia discussed innovative approaches to environmental engineering education.

The conference was spearheaded by UNP’s EMO in collaboration with several cooperating agencies such as the Office of the President, International Affairs and External Linkages Office, University Information Office, Information and Communications Technology Office, and the Student Council.

Dr. Sally Jarin, Director of International Affairs and External Linkages Office, concluded the event by emphasizing UNP’s commitment to leading by example in building a resilient future for all.

This landmark conference demonstrated UNP’s leadership in addressing global challenges while preserving cultural heritage—a step forward in promoting sustainable development worldwide.
