UNP inks MOA with BJMP Ilocos Sur

Dr. Erwin Cadorna, UNP President, made a pact with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Province of Ilocos Sur, represented by JSInsp Freddie Emiliano J. Villon, Provincial Administrator, by signing a Memorandum of Agreement at the Oandasan Hall on August 5, 2024.

The collaboration aimed to provide the necessary assistance regarding skills training and technology transfer, information drive and advocacies, consultancy services, and capability programs. These prospective programs are set to address BJMP’s need of assistance in terms of upgrading the capability of the officials and promoting the socio-economic advancement of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

The University will provide medical and dental services, information drive, skills training, technology transfer, and livelihood programs; conduct lectures in coaching and officiating sport games; training on disaster risk reduction and management, basic life support, basic first aid, and rescue operations; and collaborate and partner with the Bureau in the conduct of research.

This initiative reflects UNP’s commitment to community service and the empowerment of marginalized groups, particularly those within the correctional system, by equipping them with skills and knowledge that can facilitate their reintegration into mainstream society.
