UNP signs MOA with Bullalayaw org for skills, livelihood training

 

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP), through its University Extension Office (UEO), has officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Bullalayaw ti Vigan Inc. to enhance skills and livelihood training. The signing occurred on August 19, 2024 at the Oandasan Hall with Dr. Erwin Cadorna, the UNP President, and Mx. Raimundo Arce, representing the non-government organization.

The event was witnessed by Dr. Lloyd Mata (officer-in-charge of UEO), Dr. Fatima Rocamora (Vice President for Research and Extension), Mx. Gilbert Ramos, and Mx. Marlon Suero.

Bullalayaw ti Vigan Inc. has identified a critical need for skills training in cosmetology, aiming to create a positive impact through activities that support the LGBTQ community. In response, UNP plans to provide a range of resources and support, including skills training and livelihood programs, manpower and transportation services, venue for events, opportunities to perform service, and leadership training. UNP will also provide training on social media awareness and invite volunteers and participants to these programs, projects and services.

This collaboration seeks to empower individuals within the community, by equipping them with essential skills that can lead to sustainable livelihoods. The MOA reflects UNP’s commitment to community engagement, gender equality, and social responsibility, aligning with its broader mission to support educational and vocational development.
