The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) held the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing and lecture on Mental Health Awareness, through the University Extension Office at Rizal, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur on August 7, 2024.

This collaborative initiative aimed to bridge academic resources with community needs, promote sustainable development, enhance local governance through human resource development, sports development and related programs, and empower the Sangguniang Kabataan with essential knowledge about mental health.

The event also featured a lecture on Mental Health Awareness, specifically targeting the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), wherein Prof. Jevie A. Abella, served as the resource speaker, providing essential knowledge about various mental health conditions, signs, and effects. This endeavor empowered the youth leaders with a better understanding of mental health issues within their community.

The MOA signing was attended by Dr. Lloyd A. Mata (OIC-Director, UEO), Prof. Randall M. Rabacal, (Coordinator, Research Dissemination & Advocacy), Prof. Jevie A. Abella (Coordinator, Social & Community Services), Mariedes D. Soller (Brgy. Captain, Rizal), and Josh Reiven C. Tipon (SK Chairperson, Brgy. Rizal), as well as Sangguniang Kabataan officials and members.

This collaborative effort underscores UNP’s commitment to addressing community needs and promoting educational initiatives that enhance public welfare and mental health awareness.
