Indonesian teaches PE students the Muay Thai
The Islamic University of Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari collaborated with the University on a training-workshop on Muay Thai. Held at the CTE Function Hall on April 27, the event was led by expert Muhammad Aditya Rahman from Indonesia.
The Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) and Master of Arts in Teaching Physical Education (MATPE), in collaboration with Physical Education and Arts–Dynamic Developers and Enthusiasts Club (PADDEC) of the College of Teacher Education, organized the activity titled “Unleashing the Power Within among BPEd and MATPE Students Through Training-Workshop on Muay Thai.”
During the workshop, Rahman provided a comprehensive overview of Muay Thai, covering its history, rules, and traditional rituals. Students learned about the significance of the Wai Kru Ram Muay, a ceremonial dance that embodies respect and gratitude in Muay Thai culture.
Additionally, they honed their practical skills, mastering proper stances, footwork, and striking techniques under Rahman’s guidance. As the workshop progressed, students were given the opportunity to apply their newfound knowledge creatively.
Collaborating in groups divided by year level, they worked together to choreograph Muay Thai-inspired dance routines. Each group infused elements of the sport into their performances, showcasing their creativity and skills.
Despite being in the developmental stage, all groups delivered impressive performances, capturing the essence of Muay Thai through their choreography. The BPED 2 students emerged as the winners, earning recognition for their outstanding presentation.
The workshop not only equipped students with practical skills in Muay Thai but also promoted teamwork, creativity, and camaraderie among participants, reflecting PADDEC’s commitment to holistic development in physical education.
