The University of Northern Philippines celebrated the 3rd Anniversary of Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna as UNP President on 09 October 2022.

The celebration started with a Holy Mass officiated by Msgr. Gary Noel Formoso, parish priest of St. Paul Vigan City, held at 9:00 o’clock AM at the university gymnasium. In his homily, Msgr. Formoso emphasised “Gratitude is the memory of the heart. Let us continue to be humble and grateful people”.

After the Eucharistic celebration, Hon. Eva Marie Medina, a member of the UNP Board of Regents (BOR) and Dr. Armando Ganal, DOST Regional Director and member of the BOR, were assisted by Dr. Erwin Cadorna in the Opening and Ribbon Cutting of the Center for Diabetic Care of the UNP Hospital. The blessing of the four-storey Student Services Center and Technology Complex was also executed.

A testimonial program at the UNP gym followed. The event was attended by members of the UNP BOR, the executive officials, UNP personnel, Student Council Officers, members of the UNP Retirees Association (UNP-RA) and Dr. Cadorna’s family members.

Dr. Erwin Cadorna administered the oath taking ceremony of the newly appointed and promoted faculty members and non-teaching personnel.

Hon. Jerry Singson, Governor of Ilocos Sur; Dr. Lauro B. Tacbas, former UNP President and president of UNP-RA, Hon. Eva Marie Medina, Dr. Armando Ganal and Ms. Jonah Via Cadorna-Pecho, niece of Dr. Cadorna delivered their congratulatory messages and greeting to the President.

The program was highlighted by the State of the University Address of Dr. Cadorna.

“Today, as I celebrate my 3rd Anniversary as the 6th President of the University of Northern Philippines, it is my pleasure and honor to present our university victories in my 3rd State of the University Address, anchored in the 12 University Development Goals”, Dr. Cadorna commenced.

The President shared and itemized the achievements and accomplishments of his administration anchored in the 12 University Development Goals. He also extended his thanks to everyone for walking with him in his journey. “I take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you. I cannot announce all your names, but please be assured that the university truly appreciates your efforts, sacrifices and the passion you show in serving our university. Thank you for your heartfelt desire to ensure that UNP is working towards becoming a globally recognized university.” The President punctuated.

Further, Dr. Cadorna stressed “Our journey is far from over. There is so much to do for our University. We are set to start anew another year of journey ahead. But with your commitment and faith, we can achieve our goals.”

“Our ideas, actions and utterings should positively change our world. Dear UNPians, I invite you to soar higher, build character, and create future. Together, we can!” he ended.
