CArch hosts seminar on digital twin tech
The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) College of Architecture (CArch) hosted a seminar and training workshop on Digital Twin Technology, offering a forward-looking perspective on how advanced tools can streamline processes and improve decision-making across various fields.
Held on November 22 at Tadena Hall, the event featured insights from Ar. Anthony R. Raquepo, an architectural design consultant and urban planner based in Fujairah, UAE.
Dr. Fatima Nicetas R. Alonzo, dean, emphasized in the opening remarks on the importance of leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead in the dynamic world of architecture.
Ar. Mon-Cres A. Toje, BS Architecture program head, formally introduced Ar. Raquepo, lauding his extensive expertise in digital modeling and urban planning.
Taking the stage, Ar. Raquepo provided an in-depth overview of digital twin technology, a powerful tool that integrates real-world data with virtual simulations. Through video presentations, he illustrated its practical applications in countries like Australia and the UAE, demonstrating its potential to enhance efficiency and accuracy in architectural conservation, urban planning, and other fields.
During the open forum, Ar. Raymund Queypo posed the question, “Digital twin seems to already have everything—what more can it do?” He underscored the versatility of the technology, detailing how it relies on precise data and specialized software to create highly accurate virtual models that adapt to real-world changes.
The training workshop allowed participants to explore the system, learning to navigate the system for real-time monitoring, predictive analysis, and collaborative design, as well as its practical value in streamlining workflows.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Ar. Monserrat Stevens F. Pescador, assistant dean, who expressed gratitude to the participants and organizers.
