Info coordinators prepped for their new roles

College Information Coordinators (CICs) were capacitated on news writing, graphic design, mobile photography, and broadcasting through a seminar-workshop spearheaded by the Public Information Office on April 5, 2024.

Coming from the 17 colleges and the Laboratory Schools, the CICs comprise a new designation in UNP to beef up PIO’s manpower for wider documentation of University events and programs.

Dr. Abigail S. Guerrero, Officer-in-Charge of PIO, reiterated in her welcome remarks that the role of CICs has a huge impact on managing and sharing information in the University.

“We initiated this training to equip you with the needed skills and know-how for you to effectively carry out your roles. From enhancing news writing skills, promoting institutional values, doing fact-checking and verification, to writing for different platforms and audiences” Dr. Gurrero said.

Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna pointed out: “The importance of online news in internalization lies in our ability to enhance visibility and promote engagement with our international stakeholders.”

He added that by publishing news articles online, the University community can showcase their achievements, initiatives, and contributions to a wider audience, and thus enhance its reputation and attract international partners, students, and faculty members.”

Led by Dr. Irene Abigail S. Guerrero who talked about mobile photography, the PIO staff who shared strategies on the topics mentioned were Mr. Mark Louie Tabunan, Mr. Joel C. Fabillaran (graphic design), and Mr. Johnny Allagadan (broadcasting).

Through this activity, the CICs are expected to be equipped with the necessary skills as information point persons in their respective colleges and be able to help the University showcase its achievements, initiatives, and contributions to a wider audience.
