UNP and UTAR forge academic partnership with MOU Signing

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) has officially strengthened its international academic ties by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) of Malaysia. The agreement was formally signed on February 6, 2025 at the Office of the President, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

The MOU was signed by UNP President, Dr. Erwin Cadorna and UTAR President Ir. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ewe Hong Tat. The ceremony at UNP was witnessed by Dr. Fatima Nicetas Alonzo, Dean of the College of Architecture, alongside with Ms. Mon-Cres A. Toje, program head for BS Architecture, Ms. Ludivina Lozan, program head for Environmental Planning, and Mr. Julius Artates, college coordinator for International Affairs.

The agreement outlines various academic initiatives, including faculty and student exchange programs, joint research projects, and the organization of symposiums and workshops. It aims to promote academic cooperation, research collaboration, and cultural exchange between the two institutions.

Initially set for five years, the agreement includes provisions for renewal based on mutual consent. As both universities advance this collaboration, the partnership is expected to foster global knowledge-sharing and academic innovation, paving the way for a long-term and impactful alliance.
