UNP, Nagsincaoan forge accord

 

The University of Northern Philippines entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Nagsincaoan, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur on October 16, 2024.

Present during the signing were Dr. Fatima Rocamora (VP for Research and Extension), Prof. May Evelia Ruadap (University Extension Office Coordinator), Mr. Modesto Bringas (Barangay Captain), Barangay Kagawad members, and Mr. Rouel Agtaguem (Indigenous People’s representative).

Also, a memorandum of agreement was also signed between UNP and Nagsincaoan Elementary School (NES). Principal Rosemelinda Baclig and the teachers were also present during the signing.

The UNP agrees to provide Nagsincaoan, upon request of the community, medical and dental services for the residents; conduct information drive and other advocacy programs; conduct skills training, technology transfer and livelihood projects; conduct training on disaster risk reduction and management, basic life support, basic first aid and rescue operations; conduct health, technological, educational, economic and business management training programs or seminars; conduct capability building activities for barangay officials and residents; assess and evaluate the continuity of the established projects and programs; and to provide the materials required for the activities, programs, and/or trainings, and provide technical assistance in relation to these activities.

For UNP’s MOA with NES, the University, upon request, could provide the school with medical and dental services for the students and teachers; conduct information drive and other advocacy programs; conduct skills training, technology transfer and livelihood projects; conduct lectures in coaching and officiating sport games upon request of the school; conduct training on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Basic Life Support, Basic First Aid and Rescue Operations; conduct health, technological, educational, economic and business management training programs or seminars; conduct capability building activities for teachers, employees and students; and provide technical assistance in relation to these activities.

Following the signing of the MOA was a lecture. Dr. Ismael Rivera talked on Human Rights while Mr. Johnny Allagadan Jr. delivered the lecture on Anti-sexual Harassment and the Safe Spaces Act to the residents of Nagsincaoan.

For the school, Dr. Aileen Paculan, Mr. Aristotle Piamonte, and Ms. Karen Calaycay delivered skills training on soap making.
