UNP boosts research skills with Analytical and Microbiological Seminar-Workshop

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP), through its University Research and Development Office (URDO) – University Natural Products Research Laboratory (UNPRL), conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Analytical and Microbiological Research Equipment on March 26, 2025, at the Science Complex Building. Organized in partnership with FIL-ANASERVE INC., the event aimed to enhance research competencies by equipping faculty researchers with essential skills in handling, maintaining, and utilizing advanced laboratory instruments.

The seminar-workshop featured hands-on training on cutting-edge research equipment, including the Berhold Crocodile 5-in-One Miniworkstation, IUL Sphereflash Automated Colony Counter, Motic C2 Panthera Microscope, and Equitron Slefa Autoclave. Participants engaged in interactive practical sessions designed to improve their proficiency in data collection, measurement accuracy, and error minimization techniques, ensuring the precision and integrity of research outcomes.

Leading the event was Prof. Chris Paul Pagaoa, who underscored the importance of enhancing researchers’ competence in utilizing advanced laboratory equipment to uphold scientific excellence and research credibility. This initiative reflects UNP’s unwavering commitment to capacity building and fostering a culture of excellence.

Beyond technical training, the seminar-workshop served as a valuable networking platform, bringing together faculty researchers, external experts, and key stakeholders in the scientific community. The event saw active participation from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) personnel, faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and the College of Health Sciences (CHS), as well as laboratory personnel from the Laboratory Services Office.

Participants praised the initiative, emphasizing its role in enhancing their research efficiency and reinforcing high-quality, evidence-based scientific investigations. The success of this program highlights UNP’s dedication to sustainable research, development and innovation, ensuring that its faculty and students continue to be at the forefront of scientific inquiry and discovery.
