Serious to its commitment of continuously improving its systems and services, the University of Northern Philippines received the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 certification from the SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. The certificate no. SCP000580Q was issued on 29 December 2021.

UNP’s ISO certification covers the provision of Tertiary Education Services including Instruction, Research, Extension, Production, Support to Operations, and Administration.

The certification is valid until 28 December 2024, subject to adherence to the ongoing programme, successful agreement of certification following each audit, and compliance with the terms and conditions of the certification.

Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, UNP President, has extended his gratitude to the UNP community who supported this university’s feat. ISO Certification has become one of the administration’s major pursuits in line with sustaining the quality standards in the university. “I thank everyone for your sacrifice and commitment in this endeavor. This is not just an achievement of my administration, this is OUR achievement,” he emphasized.

He also reminded everyone about their responsibilities especially now that the university is ISO-certified.

The University of Northern Philippines, in its continuous pursuit of international quality standards, faced ISO audit  on 23 November 2021, and 1-2 December 2021.

The three-day audit  entailed virtual interview sessions with the university top management and process owners, and evaluation of documents.

The institutionalization of quality management systems in government is implemented through Executive Order 605, s. 2007. SUCs are enjoined to establish ISO Quality Management Systems (ISO-QMS) in order to promote and improve public sector performance.
