UNP strengthens collaboration with IMAP to advance Midwifery Education

In a significant step toward strengthening partnerships and fostering future collaborations, the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), through its College of Health Sciences, formalized its commitment to excellence by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines (IMAP) Ilocos Chapter and Regional Chapter. The signing ceremony took place at the Provincial Capitol in Vigan City on March 8, 2025.

The event was attended by UNP President Dr. Erwin Cadorna, College of Health Sciences Dean Dr. Joussie Bermio, IMAP Regional Chapter President Hon. Elvie Estrada, IMAP Ilocos Sur Chapter President Hon. Enriqueta Bautista, and Bachelor of Science in Midwifery Program Head Lowie Lynette Basconcillo. Also present were RLE Coordinator Geraldine Palomares, Unit Research Coordinator Dr. Romelia Tamayo, and faculty members from the BSM program.

This partnership establishes a framework for impactful projects and collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing midwifery education. By working together, UNP-CHS and IMAP seek to enrich the learning experience of faculty and students while contributing to the broader community. Their shared vision underscores a commitment to advancing midwifery education and strengthening healthcare services in the region.
