The University of Northern Philippines held a comprehensive three-day orientation and training on the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) on April 14-15 and 21, 2025. This strategic initiative involved active participation from faculty, staff, and administration, regardless of employment status. The training was a joint effort by Human Resource Management Office and Information & Communications Technology Office, reflecting the university’s commitment to equipping employees with modern tools and knowledge, supporting UNP’s adaptation to technological advancements and global trends.
Experts Mr. Bonbryan Velasco and Mr. TJ Tandoc from BSTech Company led the sessions, sharing practical expertise and industry insights. The training emphasized the importance of HRIS in modernizing university operations by replacing traditional paper-based methods with sophisticated software that streamlines employee information management and HR processes. For UNP, HRIS aims to improve efficiency through automation, ensure data accuracy, support data-driven decisions, empower employees with self-service, enhance compliance, and simplify payroll and benefits management. This aligns with UNP’s goal to optimize human resource management for a more effective and motivated workforce.
The program covered key HRIS features: system navigation and functionality, accurate data input and administration, customized reporting and analysis, process automation, and system security with data confidentiality. Participants engaged in interactive workshops and hands-on exercises to gain practical skills for effective HRIS use.
UNP believes that proper HRIS utilization will greatly enhance human resource management, simplify processes, reduce errors, and foster a productive, satisfying work environment. This training marks a key step in the university’s ongoing pursuit of modernization, efficiency, and excellence.
