The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) celebrated a significant milestone on October 9, 2024, with the launching of two state-of-the-art kiosks at the Administration Building. This initiative, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of Dr. Erwin Cadorna’s presidency, marks a new chapter in the university’s commitment to enhancing campus life and services.
Spearheaded by the Information & Communications Technology Office (ICTO), these kiosks represent a leap forward in UNP’s digital infrastructure. Dr. Shareen Navarro, Director of ICTO, explained the project’s vision: “designed to be comprehensive hubs of information and services, catering to the diverse needs of our University community.”
“Our goal is to create a more connected and efficient campus experience,” Dr. Navarro added. The launching ceremony was a testament to the University’s collaborative spirit. VP Albert Tejero, Vice President for Finance and Administration, joined Dr. Navarro in cutting the ribbon, symbolizing the official unveiling of the kiosks. The event was further solemnized by Rev. Fr. Aristotle Maggay, who blessed the new installations, emphasizing their role in promoting a supportive campus environment.
President Cadorna, reflecting on this milestone, stated, “These kiosks represent more than just technological advancement. They embody our commitment to sustainability, and community building.”
The strategic placement of the kiosks in the Administration Building ensures maximum accessibility for students, faculty, and visitors alike. This location choice underscores UNP’s dedication to making essential services readily available to all members of the University community.
As UNP continues to evolve under President Cadorna’s leadership, initiatives like these kiosks play a crucial role in shaping the University’s future. “We’re not just preparing our students for the world of tomorrow; we’re bringing that world to them today,” President Cadorna remarked.
The launching of these kiosks is part of a broader strategy to create a more dynamic, and engaging campus life. By integrating technology with daily student needs, UNP is setting a new standard for higher education institutions in the region. As the UNP community embraces these new additions, the University looks forward to continued innovation, and growth, always with the goal of enhancing the educational experience, and promoting a strong sense of community among its members.
