UNP community unites against Breast Cancer
The Medical Dental Services Office at the University of the Northern Philippines in partnership with the UNP-Biology Society, the Center for Gender and Development, and the Student Council hosted a seminar on breast cancer on November 20, 2024, themed, “No one should face Breast Cancer alone,” the event aimed to raise awareness and promote preventive measures against this prevalent disease within the university community.
The seminar featured relevant information about breast cancer, including its risk factors, symptoms, and the importance of early detection through regular screenings. Participants engaged in discussions about the psychosocial aspects of living with breast cancer, emphasizing the need for support systems for those affected by the disease.
In addition to informative presentations, attendees were encouraged to participate in interactive activities that highlighted self-examination techniques and available resources for support. The collaborative effort reflects UNP’s commitment to fostering a health-conscious environment and empowering students with knowledge about breast cancer prevention.
The seminar not only educated participants but also aimed to cultivate a supportive community where individuals can seek help and share their experiences.
