UNP celebrates President’s Birthday with Outreach to Elderly

In celebration of Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna’s 61st birthday, the University of Northern Philippines held a meaningful outreach program to support the elderly in Magsingal and Cabugao, Ilocos Sur. The initiative, titled, “Holistic Wellness and Mental Health Support for Elderly, Project SAPPUYUT,” took place on February 25, 2025. It was spearheaded by the University Extension Office in collaboration with the Administrative Council, Faculty Union, and Student Council.

Dr. Cadorna, along with university leaders, faculty members and students, personally distributed gift packs to the residents of Balay Taripato, homes for the elderly in both towns. This outreach program not only celebrated Dr. Cadorna’s milestone but also reinforced UNP’s commitment to social responsibility and community service.

The focus of Project SAPPUYUT was on the holistic well-being of the elderly, addressing both their physical and mental health needs. The University Extension Office, as the program’s initiator, led the organization and coordination of the event, ensuring that the elderly received much-needed care and support.

Dr. Cadorna expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the entire UNP community in making the outreach a success, emphasizing the importance of compassion and service to those in need. Through this initiative, the university continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the lives of the elderly in surrounding communities, who often face significant challenges.
