BSA program equips SNHS-ABM students with Essential Bookkeeping skills

The College of Business Administration and Accountancy through its Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) program successfully conducted Bookkeeping Clinic/Workshop at Sinait National High School on February 18-19, 2025. The two-day workshop aimed to equip Senior High School students under the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand with essential bookkeeping skills, reinforcing financial literacy and business competency.

A team of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and business experts from UNP led the sessions. Among the faculty members who facilitated the workshop were Mary Ann R. Dela Cruz, Geofed Jhon M. Ngayaan, Mac Kerwin P. Lim, and other distinguished professionals. Selected students actively participated in the hands-on activities, enhancing their learning experience through direct engagement with industry practitioners.

On the first day, a session on “Mastering the Essentials” was participated in by Grade 11 students. The workshop introduced them to the fundamentals of bookkeeping, emphasizing the importance of financial record-keeping in business operations. Students engaged in hands-on activities that covered recording transactions and preparing financial statements, allowing them to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world financial applications.

The second day was a “Practical Workshop” for Grade 12 students that provided them an in-depth exploration of the Accounting Process, Business and Income Taxes, and Partnership & Corporation Basics. Facilitators guided students through practical exercises in financial statement preparation and compliance with tax regulations. The workshop also addressed common tax concerns and reporting requirements, ensuring students gained a deeper understanding of financial structures.

The successful implementation of the ABM Bookkeeping Clinic/Workshop underscores UNP’s commitment to academic excellence and community engagement. By providing senior high school students with essential financial skills, the university continues to play a vital role in preparing future business leaders for real-world challenges.
