BEEd program conducts seminar on game-based learning and GAD awareness
The BEEd Program of the UNP-College of Teacher Education conducted the “Winning Moves: Seminar on game-based Approaches and GAD Orientation” on March 12, 2025, at the UNP Hostel Function Hall. The event, attended by second year and third year BEEd students and faculty, featured discussions on game-based collaborative teaching by Dr. Edmar Paguirigan and the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act by Atty. Aaron Noel Taloza.
Dr. Eleuteria Pacpaco, BEEd program head, set the tone of the seminar by calling attention to the role of teachers in creating an equitable society where everyone can participate. She highlighted the significance of game-based learning in peer teaching, making lessons more dynamic and interactive.
Dr. Paguirigan, a BLEPT topnotcher, incorporated game-based collaborative teaching into his lecture, actively engaging students through interactive activities such as Riddle Game, Spelling Games, Space Game, Moving Games, Hand Game, Drawing Game, and Portray Game. These activities provided students with firsthand experience of how games can enhance classroom engagement and learning.
Atty. Taloza provided an in-depth discussion on RA 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act, covering various forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, and economic violence. He also addressed legal remedies for male victims of domestic violence and explained the phases of Battered Woman Syndrome.
The seminar aimed to incorporate game-based teaching strategies while promoting gender sensitivity among future teachers.
