CCJE leads blood donation, tree planting

 

As part of the celebration of the 59th Founding Anniversary of the University of Northern Philippines, a simultaneous extension activity was conducted by the different units and offices of the University.

The College of Criminal Justice Education, headed by Dr. Sina C. Bestre, with the assistance of Dr. Edwin Q. Cerna (extension coordinator) and all faculty members and staff, organized an activity entitled “Blood Donation cum Aftercare and Plant a Tree Be a Hero Today.” These were the identified needs based on the results of the needs assessment survey conducted in the College’s adopted community, San Julian, Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

Students from the Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Master of Science in Criminal Justice programs engaged in the aforementioned activity, with the counterparts including the residents, barangay officials, and barangay health workers. 

These activities generally aimed these activities were designed to meet the barangay’s primary objectives, that is to collect numerous blood products that can help save multiple lives and nature conservation through planting trees campaign – a major forest restoration program.

Moreover, another objective is to preserve and restore forests worldwide in order to mitigate the interconnected problems of biodiversity loss and climate change.
