CGAD conducts seminar on gender, health

 

The Center for Gender and Development (CGAD) joined the UNP Community Outreach Program through a seminar on gender and health in San Julian Norte, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur on October 17, 2024. The activity is part of the memorandum of agreement  with the Brgy. San Julian Norte held on May 3, 2024.

Prof. Cherry Banilad and Prof. Maricris Florendo, both faculty members of the College of Nursing, were the lecturers of the said activity.

Since October is the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Prof. Florendo stressed on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and the importance of regular mammograms and clinical breast exams. 

Prof. Banilad discussed family planning as an effective method in cultivating quality life not only for couples but also for children and society. It is also a significant contribution to the reproductive health field. 

Moreover, it gives the right to the couple to decide freely and responsibly on the number and spacing of children and to attain the highest standard of reproductive health. The activity was participated by BHW, 4Ps beneficiaries, and solo parents.
