CLAW honors Bar passers in “Pagpupugay”
The College of Law proudly celebrated its newest batch of lawyers on January 31, 2025 with Pagpupugay, an event dedicated to honoring the outstanding achievements of its 2024 Bar Examination passers Atty. Jose Q. Cabatu, Atty. Rushiane B. Carmelo, Atty. Richard C. Diongco, Atty. Andrei John G. Figueras, Atty. Dyalisse Mia C. Madriaga, Atty. Ruth Eunice A. Pulanco, Atty. Khristine Camille B. Ramos, Atty. Jayson R. Rapisura, Atty. Anna Karizza R. Rialubin, Atty. Aaron Noel F. Taloza, Atty. Jimmy Fernando T. Tecson, Jr., and Atty. Irene R. Virtudes.
The celebration began with a motorcade in Metro Vigan followed by a Thanksgiving Mass and Testimonial Luncheon at UNP Guestel. Engr. Saturnino Tablada represented the University President Dr. Edwin Cadorna in the event.
Dean Atty. Yaye D. Lares expressed her deep joy, likening the release of Bar results to reliving her experience each year. The Bar passers conveyed their deep gratitude to the University of Northern Philippines emphasizing the importance of ETHICS—Education, Technology, Humility, Integrity, Compassion, and Service—as they step into their legal careers. Assistant Dean Atty. Mirela Verzosa also extended appreciation to the university and everyone who contributed to the success of Pagpupugay.
The evening culminated in a Testimonial Dinner at UNP Tadena Hall, where the Bar passers shared their struggles and triumphs. Stories of perseverance emerged—overcoming a fire during Bar reviews, family hardships, personal doubts, and even the toll of depression. Some found inspiration in small yet profound moments, like an act of kindness toward the less fortunate. Others spoke of unwavering support from mentors, friends, and loved ones who helped them push through their lowest points.
A candle-lighting ceremony, led by College of Law Ambassadress Ms. Kimberly Cacho dressed as Lady Justice, symbolized the passing of wisdom from the new lawyers to aspiring students. Atty. Alfredo F. Benzon led a celebratory toast, humorously noting, “Wine makes a person intelligent, but beer makes a person happy,” as he raised a glass of beer.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Atty. Benmar Tabuso, marking the end of a day filled with gratitude, inspiration, and recognition for the resilience and dedication of the #MarvelousBarPassers.
Pagpupugay was not just a celebration of passing the Bar—it was a tribute to the perseverance, dedication, and sacrifices made by the new lawyers. As they embark on their legal careers, they carry with them not only the knowledge they have gained but also the responsibility to uphold justice, integrity, and service in the profession.
