DLH holds art workshop
The Department of Languages and Humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences through its DLH SSS (Saluad, Saririt ken Saranay) Extension Program effectively led a Seminar-Workshop on the Art of Creation in Quimmarayan, Sto Domingo, and Capangdanan, Bantay, Ilocos Sur.
Mr. Michel M. Visaya, faculty member of DLH, focused on specific techniques and skills in various forms of art creation, such as painting, sculpture, digital art, or drawing. He articulated that the activity helps individuals to channel their thoughts, feelings, and experiences into tangible forms of art, fostering personal growth and emotional well-being.
Afterwards, Prof. Bernadeth F. Canoy, the organizer and initiator of the activity, conveyed the rationale for the activity. She stressed that in the context of a community or school, this is an important activity in art creation and is a valuable opportunity for individuals to enhance their skills, discover their creativity, and mingle with others in the art world. It not only enhances personal development but also serves as a vital activity for cultural exchange, artistic innovation, and social change through the power of art.
The beneficiaries were grateful for the enlightening and reflective discussion on recycling for reducing waste, conserving resources, and promoting environmental sustainability.
The lecture concluded with closing remarks sent by Mr. Marino Tababa, the barangay captain. He lauded that the activity not only contributes to personal development but also plays a significant role in promoting cultural exchange.
The activity was initiated and organized by Prof. Bernadeth F. Canoy and led by Prof. Allen Magdaleno De Vera, the department head.
