DMMMSU faculty explore UNP’s healthcare programs’ best practices

Six faculty members of the College of Community Health and Allied Sciences at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University’s South La Union Campus visited the University of Northern Philippines on May 13 to benchmark best practices, facilities, and teaching methods of the College of Health Sciences and the College of Nursing.

The goal of the visit is to enhance their Bachelor of Science in Midwifery and Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs, with UNP providing valuable insights, as stated in their letter to the University.

Led by Chancellor Dr. Joanne C. Rivera, the team included Dr. Fauslyn Gay U. Amongan, Head of Instruction; Prof. Gabriel O. Bacungan, Dean of the College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences; Prof. Rolando Roncal, Chairperson of the Nursing Department; Ms. Shiela Dulay; and Ms. Ma. Elizabeth Aldot.

Dr. Irene Abigail S. Guerrero, OIC of the Public Information Office, welcomed the guests. She emphasized that the activity’s goal is to understand one another’s approaches, saying, “Our goal is to create a platform for the exchange of ideas and best practices, which will ultimately contribute to the growth and development of our institutions.”

Dr. Joussie B. Bermio (CHS Dean) and Dr. Francis Don Nero (CN Dean), along with their faculty members, answered the team’s inquiries about the best practices of UNP’s College of Health Sciences and College of Nursing on multiple occasions throughout their stay.
