UNP signs pact with CHR
The University of Northern Philippines signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Commission on Human Rights at the La Union Convention Center, San Fernando City, La Union on August 23, 2024.
Dr. Fatima Rocamora represented UNP President Dr. Erwin Cadorna in the signing of the MOA with CHR Chairperson Atty. Richard Palpal-latoc and Atty. Harold Kub-aron, Regional HR Director, CHR RO1.
The pact mainly aims to build a culture of human rights by establishing, developing, strengthening, and continuously operating the Center for Human Rights Education (CHRE). The partnership further aims to develop CHRE as a social laboratory for human rights education innovations and build a culture of human rights in various community settings.
Also present during the signing were Dr. Jaime Manuel, president of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University; Mr. Danilo Balino, chief of the CHR Promotion and Advocacy Division; Prof. May Evelia Ruadap, accredited human rights educator and University Extension Office (UEO) coordinator, and Prof. Randall Rabacal, UEO coordinator for advocacy and research dissemination.
The University of Northern Philippines is a Center for Human Rights Education.
