DMNS opens Science Month
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation no. 28, Science Month is celebrated every September to raise awareness of the influence and relevance of science in our daily lives and to our society. The Department of Mathematics and Natural Science launched on September 9 the Science Month Celebration to serve as an avenue for UNPians to engage with science, regardless of gender, age, and cultural background.
This year’s theme, “Innovative Practices: Harmonizing Science, Culture, and Climate Action,” highlights the meeting of cultural practices, scientific advancements, and climate action.
It also aligns with several sustainable development goals, including good health and well-being (SDG 3), quality education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), and climate action (SDG 13).
Science month celebration offers plenty of opportunities for co- and cross-curricular learning. DMNS prepared various activities to test students’ creativity and abilities.
The Search for Science Quizzard will challenge students to solve problems and critically think as they explore science topics beyond their regular curriculum.
The Convergence of Creativity: A Sci-in-Art Exhibit will enrich the UNP student community’s appreciation of science by transforming scientific concepts more understandable through art interpretation and representation of scientific themes.
The Science Reels: A Montage Madness Challenge will allow the students to learn new set of technical skills related to the challenge’s theme, enhancing their science education experience through modern approaches to storytelling and content creation.
Celebrating the substantial influence of science raises a positive social attitude towards the field, helps in enhancing science education in the University, and promotes student engagement through valuable science learning experiences.
