SELF initiative empowers young learners in Cabugao with Hygiene Education
The atmosphere at Salomague Elementary School was lively and filled with excitement as young learners from Kinder, Grades 1, 2, and 3 took part in the “SELF” program, designed to improve their personal skills and hygiene knowledge. On March 7, 2025, the school became a hub of learning and development, focusing on enhancing personal growth and promoting healthy living among the community’s youngest members.
The day was filled with engaging sessions tailored to each grade level, led by dedicated educators. Prof. Maricris Florendor kicked off the learning for Kinder students, followed by Prof. Jevie Abella for Grade 1, Prof. Edna Javier for Grade 2, and Prof. Cherry Banilad for Grade 3. Facilitators Ms. Rica Marie Valdez and Dr. Bernardo Oliber Arde, Jr. ensured smooth transitions and provided additional support throughout the day.
Mr. Cleverson Pacion, Officer-in-Charge of Salomague Elementary School said, “It is crucial to instill these fundamental life skills and hygiene practices at a young age. By empowering these children, we are investing in a healthier and more capable future generation”.
Dr. Lloyd Mata and Prof. Randal Rabacal were present to monitor and evaluate the program’s effectiveness, ensuring it met the objectives and delivered valuable outcomes. Their presence reinforced the university’s commitment to quality and impact.
The activity’s background highlights the importance of promoting proper hygiene to prevent diseases and improve overall community health. Furthermore, providing training on personal development empowers individuals with essential life skills, fostering confidence, self-awareness, and better decision-making.
The comprehensive program, dubbed “SELF,” addressed critical aspects of well-being, aiming to equip children with essential life skills and solidify their understanding of proper hygiene practices. It successfully fostered holistic well-being and empowerment, contributing to the development of healthier and more capable individuals ready to thrive in their communities. The smiles and enthusiastic participation of the young learners at Salomague Elementary School served as a testament to the program’s positive impact.
