UNP & GSP Ilocos Sur Join Forces: Empowering Ilocos Sur through Extension Programs
The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines Ilocos Sur Council (GSP Ilocos Sur Council) came together in a partnership as they signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 18, 2024. The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines Ilocos Sur Council marking the beginning of another collaboration.
Dr. Erwin Cadorna, President of UNP along with Dr. Lloyd Mata, Director, University Extension and other faculty members represented UNP at the event. On the other hand, Hon. Eva Marie Medina, President of GSP Ilocos Sur Council was accompanied by board members and commissioners to represent their council. This MOA symbolizes a commitment to work together on extension programs.
The collaboration between UNP and GSP Ilocos Sur aims to bring about advancements through an extension program. UNP plans to offer resources and training opportunities to the community in Ilocos Sur. These include skills development initiatives, livelihood projects, disaster preparedness training, life skills programs as sharing knowledge and expertise.
Through these resources and opportunities provided by UNP in partnership with GSP Ilocos Sur Council, it is anticipated that the local community will be empowered towards becoming knowledgeable and resilient individuals.
