Psych program trailblazes mental health advocacy through a hub
The Psychology faculty and staff are with you in your struggle.
The BS Psychology program of the College of Arts and Sciences launched its mental health hub, called “TAHANAN: A Safe Headspace Project” and aimed at creating an inclusive and supportive environment in the campus.
Opened on the opening of the 58th Founding Anniversary of the College of Arts and Sciences on March 4, 2024, the hub aims to increase awareness about mental health, resilience, and wellbeing among students and faculty members.
It consists of therapeutic activities such as coloring, bead sewing, crocheting, and board games that foster relaxation and creativity. The space provides an enabling environment for people to express themselves freely and interact with others.
There are also some refreshments provided plus activities like fist wall, calm cove, open access ASMR videos, and motivational walls that help reduce stress. This program is also aimed at increasing mental health awareness, reducing academic stress, and enhancing overall well-being as well as community spirit.
According to Mr. Mico Molina, BS Psychology program head, this effort within the College of Arts and Sciences marks an important turning point as the first mental health hub is revealed.
“It demonstrates the University’s dedication to creating a supportive atmosphere and supporting the psychological well-being of students and teachers,” he added.
The launching was attended by the UNP officials, namely: Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna (University President), Dr. Rolando B. Navarro (VPAA), Mr. Albert Tejero (VPFAD), and Dr. Fatima F. Rocamora, (VPRE), together with the CAS faculty and students.
The hub is open for students and faculty from 8:00am to 5:00pm and is located at the second floor of the new CAS building.
