Caoayan school to receive UNP’s extension services

Fuerte Elementary School of Caoayan, Ilocos Sur will be a recipient of the extension services of the University of Northern Philippines in the coming months. This has been sealed through a signing of a Memorandum of Agreement held on April 12, 2024.

Spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension, the pact was made through Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna (UNP President) and Dr. Mylin A. Alambat (Principal).

“As an academic institution, we are duty-bound to provide support to our stakeholders and the wider community,” Dr. Fatima F. Rocamora, VP for Research and Extension, pointed out.

According to her, the MOA is a manifestation of the University’s commitment to extending its expertise to different schools who are in dire need of its services.

The program also recognizes that the University community will also benefit from the partnership by seeking to nurture the civic consciousness and volunteerism of students and personnel. With this agreement, UNP’s academic units and offices could implement programs and activities at Fuerte ES.

The MOA envisions programs and activities centered on medical and dental services; information drives; skills training, technology transfer, and livelihood projects; coaching and officiating games; training on disaster risk reduction; capability building for teachers; among others.

These activities are hoped to be in support of the sustainable development goals, namely: no poverty (SDG 1), quality education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), and SDG 17 (partnership for the goals).
